Lead Recreation Specialist

Description:After School Socialization is an after-school recreation and community-integration program that provides developmentally disabled children and young adults, age 5 to 22 years old, the opportunity to socialize while learning the daily skills needed for future independent community living. The program’s focus is on socialization and peer interaction so participants can develop the skills necessary to transition into integrated community recreation programs.

Duties:ESSENTIAL REQUIREMENTS:
• Work directly in program with participants
• Perform setup and clean up of activity areas daily
• Travel to varies community locations daily
• Ensure compliance with all legal requirement and agency policies
• Ensure health & safety of consumers, personnel & visitors at all times
• Ensure a healthy, safe & clean environment
• Ensure highest ethical & business practices.
• Ensure compliance with licensing standards
• In the absence of the Program Manager, assumes all responsibilities/duties of the Creative Recreation program including supervision of staff, with the assistance of the Associate Director.
• Aassist in the development, implementation & evaluation of a monthly schedule of recreational activities
• Assist in daily implementation of program incl. development & service delivery complete administrative duties as assigned
• Participate in regular creative recreation staff meetings
• Participate in trainings as directed by program manage
• Complete administrative duties as assigned.
Qualifications:Education: 12 semester units completed in ECE or Recreation, Physical Education, Human Services, Social Welfare, Nursing, Psychology, Sociology, Home Economics, Child Development or School Age child classes.

Experience: Minimum 6 months experience working with children or adults with developmental disabilities, or in field of recreation/daycare/summer camp required. Supervisory experience strongly preferred.
Substitution: None
Certification: Standard First Aid with Infant, Child and Adult CPR
Other: Communicate clearly & effectively, verbally & in writing; project a professional &
positive image at all times. Proof of valid drivers license, current automobile insurance.

Pre Employment Requirements: Clearance with the Department of Justice by completing a background check consisting of having fingerprints processed by appropriate law enforcement agencies.

Post Employment Requirements: Physical, 2-step Tb test & annual Tb clearance. Maintain all job related certification requirements.
